Fuengirola is one of the Costa del Sols coastal towns and is made up of various suburbs; El Centro, Los Boliches, Los Pacos, Torreblanca, Pueblo Lopez, El Boquetillo and Carvajal.
Only 25 kilometres from Málaga International airport and easily accessible by road, rail, or bus, it is clear to see why the buzzing cosmopolitan town of Fuengirola on the Mediterranean has become one of the most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol.
There are several privately operated health clinics in Fuengirola for patients to go to as an alternative to the state health service.
You will find many public schools throughout the area as well as English and international schools, many also offer the bonus of a school bus to collects students.
As well as commercially run gyms, the town has very good municipal sports facilities. Camp Municipal Elola is a large municipal sports and leisure facility, with a floodlit grass football pitch, six-lane running track, an athletic pitch, and long jump area. As well as football, there is handball and basketball, a tennis court, fully equipped gym, and exercise class programme.
Fuengirola has plenty to offer shoppers both in the old town and outside. In the old town centre, around the main square Plaza de la Constitución, there are many designer clothes shops. The town is a hub for cafés, bars, and restaurants on the Costa del Sol and there are some of the best restaurants on this stretch of coastline, including everything from authentic Spanish cuisine to Japanese sushi restaurants.
Fuengirola centre is a fantastic place for partygoers and clubbers, boasting some of the best disco pubs and clubs on the Costa del Sol.
Wide sandy beaches run along seven kilometres of coastline with one of the longest promenades in Spain separating the beaches and the coastal road. Fantastic views span out to the Mediterranean Sea and you can easily access all parts of the beach leading to the Sohail Castle. Near the castle there is Playa del Castillo, a dog friendly beach, which has recently been expanded to over 2,800 square meters. There are numerous bars and restaurants to stop for a bite to eat along the promenade, as well as a dedicated bike path.
There are plenty of great days out to enjoy with the family here, whether you are visiting the Bioparc Zoo, of having a splash at the water park AquaMijas.
Fuengirola also has particularly interesting festivals. In April there is ‘The International Fair: La Feria de los Pueblos’. This is a wonderful fair, held in the main fairground of Fuengirola.
